Pretexto is a unique Portuguese red from the Dão region, made entirely from grapes grown in our own vineyards. The 2020 vintage blends 50% of grapes from Penalva do Castelo—varieties like Jaen, Alfrocheiro, and Tinta Roriz grown in granite and clay soils—and 50% from Vila Nova de Tazem, where Jaen and Touriga Nacional thrive in pure granite. These vineyards are transitioning to organic certification, emphasizing a commitment to sustainability. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with a 30-day cuvaison, and each variety ferments separately according to its ripeness. The wine then ages for 11 months in large French oak vats and barrels, resulting in a naturally stabilized, artisanal blend that captures the essence of its region.
