2020 base wine

Champagne Georges Laval is owned and operated by Vincent Laval out of the village of Cumières. His family has roots in the village dating back to before the village was officially even named, and has always looked over some of the most choice parcels here. Cumières is a warm amphitheater, bowl-shaped in a way so that it’s typically the earliest appellation in Champagne to get harvested, resulting in wines that show expressive, opulent flavors. Vincent is an extremely dedicated farmer before anything else – his family never once used chemicals, and ploughs so that his vines reach some 10 meters into the soil. His press is the smallest allowed, which enables him to control every pressing’s delicacy, the juice being carried by gravity into the barrel below. His Cumières bottling is a blend of vintages, in this case based on 2017 with a bit of reserve wine from the two previous vintages. These are full of flavor, impeccably balanced and will reward with time in a Burgundy glass, replete with gorgeous fruit and stony mineral tones. It's barrel fermented with native yeasts and aged 18 months on its fine lees - 40% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 30% Pinot Meunier.
