2016 Chateau Beauregard Pomerol
2016 Chateau Beauregard Pomerol
This classic Pomerol boasts a smoky nose with a robust, sinewy body and chewy tannins. Muscular with broad strokes of black fruited flavor, a great find for those who enjoy the roughened grip of old-school Bordeaux. Also for those who can wait, as this is a Pomerol that ages very well. Beauregard is an historic estate dating back to the 18th century. These vines are planted on three terraces with the top vines sitting pretty on the clay and gravel plateau of Pomerol, and the lower vines planted on more sandy soils.
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Beauregard is a little closed on the nose, opening to warm black plums, blackberries and mulberries with touches of chocolate box and dried herbs plus violets hints. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm, grainy and packed with muscular fruit, finishing long and earthy.
