2014 Chateau Grand Village (Lafleur)

2014 Chateau Grand Village (Lafleur)
The Château Grand Village estate is owned by Jacques Guinaudaeau, owner, and winemaker of the highly collectable and exceptionally very rare Chateau Lafleur Pomerol. This estate in Fronsac is managed in the same way as Lafleur using classic techniques and incredible attention to detail. Produced from primarily Merlot with a bit of Cabernet Franc which results in a complex nose showing bright red berries with hints of dark chocolate and spice notes. Ripe plummy flavors then emerge with cedar, smoke, and clove, in a fleshy mouthfeel with fresh acidity in a long finish. A brilliant wine considering its pedigree and price.
This entry-level Bordeaux Supérieur from Château Grand Village is an absolute steal for the price. The wine is a classic Right Bank blend (Merlot-dominant, in this case 86%) rounded out with Cabernet Franc. Voluptuous flavors of plums, kirsch liqueur, bramble, dark chocolate, and tobacco dominate the wine’s plush yet vibrant palate
