(aging in 100% new oak, like the following grand crus): Deep red-ruby. Captivating floral lift to the fruit-driven aromas of black cherry and dark raspberry. Densely packed and energetic, with a subtle saline character adding interest to the intense flavors of black raspberry and licorice. These millerandé century-old vines yielded just 30 hectoliters per hectare in 2015. A bit youthfully closed today, with strong acidity and saline minerality extending the finish and leaving the salivary glands humming. (ST)

The 2015 Domaine Noëllat version of les Beaux Monts is excellent. The nose offers up a refined aromatic constellation of red and black cherries, venison, raw cocoa, woodsmoke, dark soil tones and a base of toasty new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and very nicely balanced, with fine-grained tannins, very good focus and grip and a long, soildriven and plush finish. This is very 1990-like in style. 2023-2060.

Once again mild reduction is present along with just enough wood to notice. The seductively textured and middle-driven medium-bodied flavors are at once supple yet tension-filled, all wrapped in a gorgeously complex, balanced and lingering finale. This is a classically styled Beaux Monts that is also excellent.
