2022 La Spinetta Colli Tortonesi Timorasso Derthona
Colli Tortonesi, a DOC in Piedmont, makes wine produced from the hills surrounding the town of Tortona, which is the origin of its name. It was designated as one of the early Piedmont DOCs in 1973, before the creation of the neighboring Gavi DOC. The wine name Derthona is derived from the old name of the town of Tortona.
La Spinetta's Timorasso Derthona's first vintage is 2019 and has been made with 100% Timorasso, primarily sourced from the villages of Montemarzino, Montegioco, and Monleale. The grapes are destemmed and then lightly pressed, followed by fermentation in small, temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged for eight months on the lees, giving it a nice round texture. After bottling, it is then aged for an additional three months before release. Approximately 15,000 bottles are produced annually.
Vivino 4.1 points.
Great value Italian white wine that is extremely versatile and goes well with pasta, shellfish, cured meats, and several Korean and Chinese dishes.
