Simply incredible. An intense assemblage of ripe, juicy Meyer lemon brings a depth of fruit to the flinty, saline edges. Aromas of honey, lemon pulp and ocean air balance opulence with the signature Walter Scott mineral intensity. The palate offers fleshy white peaches, rich lemon curd and soaring acidity, all framed by chipped flint and salinity. This steep site is among the highest in the Willamette Valley and is becoming one of the region's top Chardonnay vineyards.

97 Int'l Wine Review

The 2023 Walter Scott Koosah Vineyard Chardonnay from the Eola-Amity Hills spent 12 months in 65% new French oak and reflects the rocky, high-elevation site with precision and depth. The aromatics are striking, opening with crushed white rock, lemon oil, and pear skin, layered with hints of walnut shells, wet clay, and subtle cinnamon spice. On the palate, it is powerful yet focused, delivering flavors of white peach, preserved lemon, and toasted hazelnut over a core of briny minerality. The tension between richness and energy gives the wine remarkable drive, while its textural weight remains finely balanced by vivid acidity. This wine reminds me of walking along a windswept coastline at low tide, where the air is filled with sea spray and sunlight glimmers over the wet rocks. Just 250 cases produced. Highly recommended.

Bright straw/yellow in hue, the 2023 Chardonnay Koosah Vineyard is snappy and brilliant, with forward, reductive notes of matchstick, white peach, citrus blossom, green apple, and delicate spice. The palate is racy and driven, showcasing vibrant acidity and pronounced minerality, with a long, salty finish layered with toasted incense and smoky, savory nuances. Built to age, this wine demands time. Drink 2027-2047. 97+

The 2023 Chardonnay Koosah Vineyard wafts up with a beguiling bouquet, as dusty dried flowers and cracked slate give way to lemon oil, nectarine and a lovely air of confectionery spice. Silken in feel, it soothes the palate with tantalizing acidity and ripe citrus-laced fruit, coming across as juicy yet deep and complex. The senses are left saturated in salty concentration as this finishes tightly wound in its youthful state. Full of potential.
